The more things change, the more they stay the same...
Despite all of the perpetual advancements in technology, the human race (at least in my opinion) seems to be very stagnant. Contrary to popular belief, technology is doing more to cripple us a society. Just think about it.....do you actually feel smarter....or do you feel like your brain cells are dying....like mine are? Remember the "good ole days" when we had no choice but to remember numbers?! Phone numbers, address numbers, etc., were all programmed in our brains! Remember when you actually had to do RESEARCH about a specific topic? Remember those big ass encyclopedias?? Now that technology is at the forefront of our everyday lives, we're more helpless than ever. It really takes no effort to seek or validate information.....there's no need to write....to think....to do anything other than press a button. Don't get me wrong....technology has been very beneficial when it comes to life's tasks (education, shopping, banking, etc), but I'm afraid that we will become entirely dependent upon it....and that's not good. Social media is so powerful that more and more humans deem it easier to converse online with strangers than to having healthy conversations face to face. Are we trapped in Technology Purgatory....trying to decide which is best? Well....I have no idea....but I do know that I have more of a relationship with my laptop than I do with my next door neighbor. I guess this is the new way....the new world.....but I crave the day that we can just get back to the basics.
